Oak = Life

Oak is my new favorite website for online shopping. They have clothes, outwear, shoes, and assessories that I have never seen anywhere from some great designers. The stuff is hot...its like having Soho on your lap. They have great women stuff too.

Now some of the prices are kind of high, but if you have it...why not? Or save up your pennies (like I do) and treat yourself to something nice.

Here are some of my favorite items that I came across on Oak:

New Haven Parka by Mike & Chris

Ghost Hoodie by Unconventional

Bondage Shirt by Unconventional

Motor Cardigan by Opening Ceremony

Twill Tech Pant by Y-3

Crepe Hiking Boot by F-troupe

Black Twiggy Shoe by Cheapo

"I die" ~Rachel Zoe

The only thing that is constant is change.

See ya later summer, believe me, its been a trip.

Damn I miss my friends

The "Sunday Morning"video by No Doubt reminds me of my friends so much, just being free and acting dumb. I love how the entire concept for the video is revolved around cooking spaghetti for Sunday dinner. Yum!

Quick fact: Near to the end, the guy frowning on the swingchair is Gwen's older brother Eric Stephani who actually founded the group and was the keyboardist but left the group right before they made it big...I think that's why he's frowning lol.

Love No Doubt they need to come back and make another album, I've been listening to them all day.

Smoke signals

What if your fears and dreams existed in the same place?
What if to get to heaven you had to brave hell?
What if everything you ever wanted cost you everything you ever achieved? Would you still?

"Yes he can, but at first we have to elect him." ~Bill Clinton

Remember to watch the Democratic National Convention speech tonight at 10pm, where Senator Barack Obama will formally accept his presidential nomination

Here are a few of my favorite speeches at the DNC, just in case you missed it.
Video: Speech by Michelle Obama

Video: Senator Hillary Rodman Clinton at DNC

Video: Former President Bill Clinton at DNC

Video: Senator Joe Biden at DNC

Today also marks the 45 anniversary of the "I Had A Dream" speech from the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., ironic isn't it?

Please register to vote everyone, before you know it it'll be November.

Leave some comments telling me how you feel about the Convention, the speeches, and Obama.

170th & Goethals

"What I was really hanging around for, I was trying to feel some kind of a good-by. I mean I've left schools and places I didn't even know I was leaving them. I hate that. I don't care if it's a sad good-by or a bad good-by, but when I leave a place I like to know I'm leaving it. If you don't, you feel even worse."

~Holden Caulfield, The Catcher in the Rye

Good-by New York, Good-by St. John's...I'll miss you more than you know.

For The "Rebel Gentleman"

A little birdie name GQ magazine informed me about the newest celebrity putting  his feet in the fashion industry, Mr. Andre Benjamin also known as Andre 3000. In case you have been living under a rock and not familiar with Mr. 3k, he makes up one half of the multi-platimium rapping duo Outkast and most recently an actor in movies like Idlewild and Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell.

Now aside from his music and movie career, Andre is known for his personal uncouth style. Before there was a Pharrell, a Kanye, or a Lupe, Andre was one of the first rappers to wear more unorthodox appearl for his genre. Remember he wore turbans back in the day when you normally only saw you grandma wearing them. I even just saw him in one of my favorite blogs The Sartorialist (and must I say, if you are on the Satorialist...you can dress!)Andre's photo from the Sartorialist
(Read what Scott Schuman wrote about him in the August 7th the post)

Benjamin Bixby is the name of his new clothing line. The aesthetic for Bixby is greatly influenced by the 30's varsity wear and classic prep with rugby polos, tees with numbers, high waisted cropped pants, cordoroy blazers, and oxford shirts with rounded tip collars. Benjamin personally picked out the fabrics and cuts for the line. The name and style of the line was inspired by an imaginary muse who in the eyes of Andre is a world traveled educated guy who has a story to tell through his clothing.

Benjamin Bixby is to be sold at Barney's sometime this fall (hooray!)

FYI: Andre 3000 is also working a solo album release date is unknown.

Walking on Water

One of my close friends is vacationing in California for a couple of weeks (I am jealous to say) and while I was on the phone with her, she kept telling me about some crazy sandals a random girl walking down the streets of LA was wearing. My friend eventually asked the lady where she got her shoes and the lady told her that she makes them (whoa!) and gave her website.

These are the sandals I was talking about...cool, right?

The name of the brand is Posso the Spat. and the random girl with the amazing sandals was either designer of the Posso Marylouise Pels or Vanessa Giovacchin.

These girls have definately taken the gladiator sandal (or what I like to say the "Jesus sandal") to the next level. They are on their Matrix kind of stuff and to my delight they have men's shoes too! Kind of expensive for some sandals though.

August

My throat hurts
...from saying things i probably shouldn't say
But instead of fixing my lips to recite some exaggerated apology
I go to CVS and pick up a pack of Halls
That'll surely do the trick, make me feel better
Because though painful, every word spoken was true and necessary
But Oh, how it burns
Damn, the pack's gone already

Today, I feel like a pair of brown leather loafers from the thrift
...cheap and used. (a chuckle)
But in retrospect, a impeccable classic
Found in an unorthodox place
A good find to those style savvy individuals
With every crease in its mohagany leather and every scratch in the sole
It tells a story
Because one man's trash is anothers treasure
And to think...all of that for $3.99

Sitting in the emergency room
...cringing from the sound of the moans of a loved one
Actually, The loved one, or the one that matters the most (if I'm allowed to say)
Because every moment that she's in pain, I feel it the most
But she continues to apologize, for the struggles that the day has put me through
And in a bewildered voice, I ask..why?
There's no need to apologize and no thank you's necessary
Your love...you coming back home is enough.
Because to know her, is to love her
And I do, I really do...Get well soon

But all in all...
